Katherine Delleney

ACUPUNCTURIST

Katherine Delleney, M.S.O.M., L.Ac.

Katherine Delleney is a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine's Classical Chinese Medicine Program, and licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners to practice Chinese medicine in the state of Oregon.

Katherine specializes in women's health, Chronic Fatigue associated with the Epstein-Barr virus and mononucleosis, chronic lung conditions such as asthma, gastrointestinal issues, anxiety and/or depression, and both acute or chronic pain conditions. Katherine's studies include two years of formal Western medical training, which she finds helpful in her practice. Not only does this background help her better understand the condition of the individual, it also helps to bridge gaps between Eastern and Western paradigms. She has completed an extensive training program in Chinese herbalism through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine with her teacher Arnaud Versluys, and utilizes custom Chinese herbal formulas when appropriate for certain conditions.

Katherine is also a certified Qigong instructor, and continues to study with her teacher, Qigong Master Zhongxian Wu.  She looks forward to designing and maintaining a qigong program at 8 Hearts Health & Wellness in the near future.  Qigong translates as "energy work", and encompasses the movement piece of Chinese medicine, utilizing breath work and movement to stimulate acupuncture meridians, reduce stress, and balance the entire system of an individual.

While Katherine utilizes acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to treat a variety of conditions, her practice is founded upon her belief in preventative medicine. Using the finely tuned methods of Classical Chinese medical diagnosis, she strives to address imbalances before they manifest as acute illness. In the tradition of her teachers, she seeks to support her patients through the entire course of an imbalance until the resolution of symptoms occurs.  It is her great pleasure to help her patients discover their own path to well being on all levels: physical, mental and emotional.  Katherine believes there is no separation of these three planes within every individual, and accordingly a person may unexpectedly find transformation taking place on one or more of these planes. For example, an individual may come in for a low back pain issue, but report a reduction or no occurrence of panic attacks present before the treatment.

Katherine has enjoyed a busy practice in Tillamook, Oregon for the past six years, serving a very underserved community. While she travels to the area weekly, she is excited to build her practice closer to home in Portland, working in concert with the team at 8 Hearts Health & Wellness.  Katherine feels most passionate about helping people understand the imbalances within, working to rebalance for optimal health and wellbeing.  Chinese medicine is a safe and side effect free way to achieve lasting results, returning the joy in living!
